A Community Garden is going to be created on a parcel of town property that is currently not used. The property is just South of the town office.
In an effort sponsored by the Vermont Council on Rural Development to improve life in towns. Peter Hopkins, a resident of Pownal has been heading the effort, and obtaines Select Board approval this week.
The plan is to offer garden spaces to residents who want to grow flowers, vegetables or maybe even pumpkins to enter into the annual Bennington Great Pumpkin Challenge!
The property is located between the town office and nearby tennis courts on the former Bartels Lodge property.
Anyone interested in helping with organizing the garden or wanting a plot should call or email Peter Hopkins at (802) 823-5405.
