This week was one of those times that it was clearly demonstrated to me that I’m finally living in the ‘right’ place.
I was at the locksmith a couple doors up from the office, having a couple of keys made and they had batteries for the car door remotes. Thinking that mine was getting a little weak, I picked up two of them, and then saw that there were tiny screwdrivers there so you could change your battery on the spot, so I did.
When the clerk making my keys tried to ring me out, he couldn’t find a price for the two batteries, so he told me that he’d find a price, and he’d call me and tell me how much they were, and that he’d come over to my office and get the money if I wanted.
Today I realized that I hadn’t heard from him, so I stopped by his store on my way out, and paid him for the batteries. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner. Imagine that, he apologized that he hadn’t had time to come collect money from me.
Where else but in a small town will things like that happen?
