Trek For Health is a 6 week program to promote healthier lifestyles in the Bennington VT area. The program kicks off on April 22.
The first 2,000 registered participants will receive a free pedomoter, tracking forms, area walking maps and information on the health benefits of walking, and listings of area activities to increase your activity levels!
Interested parties can join a team or form your own – you just need a team captain, who will collect weekly step total for each team member and email the results to the Southwestern Vermont Health Care Wellness Office.
Motivation and competition heats up by seeing your weekly totals published in the Bennington Banner and the SVHC website.
Last year over 1,750 people participated in this challenge. Contact Kim Turner at SVHC at 802-447-5076 for more information.
This program is free thanks to a grant from the Vermont Blueprint for Health. The walking program was developed by the SVHC Community Health Improvement / Wellness Department and is supported by the Vermont Department of Health, the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department, the Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce, and Curves of Bennington. Media partners are the Bennington Banner and the Manchester Journal.
