The more I read of Feng Shui the more I realize that us Realtors are giving the same advice to our Sellers about what to do and not do in their homes to get it Show Ready. Who knew we were practicing the art of Feng Shui all along. But, there is so much information on this subject that I realized I had better cut this one short or won’t be able to get to other news about buying or selling a home in Bennington, Vermont. Like how I put those key words in? This last Blog on some of the aspects of Feng Shui has to do with the things you should NOT do with in the Southeast corner of your home – the Prosperity area – here are just a few:
Clutter: The planet Venus rules prosperous energy. Venus won’t enter a dirty home. Piles of junk serve as an obstacle so that positive energy cannot pool and accumulates in your space.
Leaks: If you have a kitchen or bathroom with a leaky faucet in this area than the theory is that your money will also be leaking away.
Toilets: If you have a toilet in this area and there is nothing you can do about it, then make sure that you keep the lid closed at all times to keep your cash from ‘flushing away’.
Kitty litter boxes: Animal toilets have the same negative association as toilets – especially if they smell bad.
Broken objects: The theory is that ‘if it’s broke, you probably are too!” Remove anything that doesn’t work including clocks that keep the wrong time, dead batteries and similar decrepit items from this area. Also replace any burnt out light bulbs, as it is essential that this area be well lit.
Trash cans: like the toilet, this item drains vital energy from the prosperity area.
So, there you go – a few common sense actions you can take now to make your home not only more attractive to potential buyers but more livable to you and your family.
